Hello everyone, welcome to my channel ZU DIY.
I’ll show you a machine that works like a charm this machine can open a blocked or clogged drain but for normal households, you cannot keep it and you can rarely see how it looks and works It can solve severe seeping, leaking, flooding caused by clogged pipe a few days ago, my neighbor came to me for help there was bad leaking on his first floor ceiling He took a shower in the second floor bathroom minutes later, the first floor ceiling right
beneath the bathroom got wet water started to drip down from chandelier He opened a tiny hole on the ceiling and water poured down from that hole like
a mini waterfall buckets scattered on the floor
the whole scene was terrible the ceiling was soaked, at least 2 square
meters I opened the ceiling bigger and
soon diagnosed that the 3 inches drainage pipe was blocked This drainage pipe connects the bathtub, toilet and vanity The clog caused water rushing to the toilet wax ring which is the lowest among three then pour into space between second floor and ceiling My neighbor had a drainage snake at home a small manual tool with a long cable rotate clockwise, the cable goes forward
counter clockwise, the cable goes back I tried but it didn’t work in this case looked like the pipe was clogged pretty solidly manual tools are not powerful enough I am going to rent a more professional tool called sewage auger I am here at The Stepson’s, the tool rental service at Lowe’s a few type of augers I can choose from manual or powered
cable length varies from 25 feet, 50 feet to 75 feet the thickness of cable could be 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch I don’t want to come back and forth so I decide to rent the biggest one This snaky monster has a 75 feet long cable which is 3/4 inch in thickness But this one is heavy too, weights about 70-80 KG find a helper to help you move it upstairs or downstairs to use the sewage auger you need to find a proper entrance in this case, water came from the toilet and the toilet is connected to 3 inch pipe remove the toilet bowl and the pipe opening on floor will be a good entrance in other cases like basement flooding basement floor drain will be a OK entrance the clean out spot on basement main pipe will be good too choose a spot close to clog, it will be easier and quicker In this project, I will remove the toilet first for you reference you can click this link to watch another video in ZU DIY it shows you how to install and remove a toilet Once the toilet bowl is removed you can see a pipe opening like this water level inside flushes to the floor which confirms the blockage ahead the auger is easy to use connect to power locate the gear, forward or backward one foot step on a foot switch , it is on release and it stops put the head in the hole pull the gear on forward step down the foot switch lightly the head and cable will snake into the pipe now I will do water test turn on tub faucet, vanity faucet and the supply water for toilet same time this will be the most water flow for this washroom water goes trough pipe easily no back up, no leaking the water level in the pipe drops too It was the clog that caused so much trouble! there are three other heads come with the auger that you can change in different shapes and sizes I tired two different heads but they are too big for 3 inches pipe The smallest and the most popular head did a good job this auger is so powerful and effective nothing in the pipe could stop the 3/4 inch cable at least in normal residential environment pipe clogged by a sock, a piece of fabric or even a solid rubber toy they will be easily crumbled by the auger yesterday at local Community Center two public washrooms were out of order plumbers used exactly same auger try to unclog this is truly a professional, heavy duty and effective tool a commercial tool in normal household just works like a charm when you encounter a clogged pipe your first thought might be call some guy
for help that’s fine. Plumbers usually have similar auger on their truck but they charge a lot
a case like this costs at least $500 if you can operate the auger
go rent one and save some money I rented it for 4 hours and paid $80
if you rent a day, it will be around $100 It is always economic if you can Do It Yourself there are mudding, patching, painting need to be done for my neighbor also carpet and hardwood floor might need to be changed he can find handyman service the most difficult part is diagnosis and unclogging if he called a general contractor
the cost will be way more, up to 10 thousand if you consider to rent a sewage auger
you can go for the smaller one it is easier to operate and to move around a right tool is key for any projects Hope you like this video
