Avoid Damaged Knobs on Gas Ranges

Avoid Damaged Knobs on Gas Ranges

Posted on November 8, 2019 by Victor McDonald

If you are experiencing trouble with your
control knobs, if they become discolored are melted or
damaged, it may be the result of leaving the oven
door open while using the boil feature or when cooling down your oven after
use. When using the broil feature on a gas range, the oven door should be
kept closed at all times. This will not affect the broil
performance. when calling your oven. When cooling your oven, we don’t recommend the oven door be opened. If, however, you wish to quickly cool your
oven, you may place a fan in front open oven door to help it cool faster. If you leave the door open when using the broil feature on your gas range, extremely high heat may directly
contact the control knobs, causing discoloration or damage. eeping your oven door closed
at all times while cooking will help to keep your knobs from
damage, such as melting, cracking, and discoloration. To clean your control knobs follow these steps: turn each knob to the off position and pull each one out. Use a soft sponge to wash each knob with a gentle soap. Do not use any strong chemicals. Allow each knob to dry. Reinstall the knobs by pushing them against the valve shaft. Remember to hold each knob in the off
position, where they won’t fit over the shaft. Also, remember that the burner knobs are
not compatible with the oven control knob. If you are washing your knobs in a dishwasher, follow the stain removal and
re-installation procedures.

You have got to be kidding. This is totally idiotic. How about providing metal knobs instead of plastic crap knobs?

Factory saving millions of dollars by making plastic knobs instead of 100 percent stamped metal knobs the designer must-have got a bonus when thought of this plan to sell more knobs

Too late!!!!!!??? I already left the door open while broiling as my mother has taught me growing up!. Also when cooling down the oven. So now I have to go buy another set of CHEAP knobs so my stove doesn't look like it is melting? OMG, they should either explain this in big red letters OR supply you with one extra pair of knobs so you KNOW why you need to keep the door shut. I know they are not making appliances like they have in the past but at least the oven usually works. TO get you they have to give you knobs that melt. grrrr.

Yes. Crappy design. Everyone leaves the door cracked open when broiling. It keeps the burner on and allows you to pull the food when it’s perfect, just before burning. They know they’re wrong. This is just PR wank.

Why is the chrome coming off the knobs on my GE stove??? NEVER have I had a problem such as this in the past with any stove in my kitchen… Is this the level of quality that is now acceptable? This stove is not even three years old…
