I grew up in a family of musicians, and music has always been a very large part of my life. And it made me extremely aware of acoustic properties and differences in timbre and also cognition of sounds. I’m very interested in pursuing a career of research. And I thought presenting the research I worked for the past three years on would be a good starting point on that career path. My favorite birds are the red-winged blackbird and the Western meadowlark. Red-winged blackbirds have many different types of calls from really simple to really complex. And they’re really pretty. And they’re
also my study species. I also really like the Western meadowlark ’cause their call is iconic and has been used in art and music from hundreds of years ago to present day.
